One world-class sommelier, a simple seasonal menu, and the best terrace in Girona puts Placa del Vi 7 near the top of our in-town hit list. 

This is one of the only places in the old town we'd say people really shouldn't miss. As a Londoner, I've missed a St.John-style menu since moving and this is about as close as it gets in Girona. The wine list alone is worth the visit, but the food stacks up too. All the dishes can be easily shared so you can order a wider variety than most restaurants. 

Start with anchovies on pan con tomate and follow it up with a salad or seafood dish, then a simple, beautifully cooked piece of local meat. All finished off with a plate of some of the best cheese you'll find outside of France. Leave room for a dessert Muscat and coffee to take you into the night. 

If you visit for lunch, try to sit outside for some of the most enjoyable people-watching in Girona. The terrace is mostly in the shade for warmer days, but bundle up if you're here in winter.
